Memories about climbing with Tim? 🙂 “It was a real experience!”…. seriously: for me it was a real honour to climb with somebody like Tim Emmett on such a nice icefall. Before the climb he gave us some useful tips and it was quite impressive how precise he uses his ice axes…every strike was solid! The location was just next to the bridge “Pont d’Intro” in the valley next to Cogne, and the 100 metre icefall itself is called “Happy Christmas” – (apparently, this name comes from the fact that people committed suicide from the bridge around the holy period of Christmas). We really lived life to its full on that wall! [by Denise]
This is it guys! The competition’s over and some of you were absolutely right 🙂 Our special guest for the ice climbing week is Tim Emmett – British extreme athlete and Mountain Hardwear ambassador. What’s most inspiring about Tim is how versatile his climbing skills are. Apart from being one of the pioneers of deep water soloing Tim also sends difficult trad routes in the UK and climbs those crazy icefalls like e.g. Helmcken Falls in Canada.
Liv Sansoz is a well known French rock climber and professional Mountain Hardwear athlete. During her career she was a world champion and world cup winner several times. She was also the first female to lead an 8c/c+ route called ‘Hasta la vista’. But first of all Liv is a very nice and humble person who joined us during stage 1 in Vercors in May 2011.
Together we climbed some legendary multipitch routes from the 60’s. Watching Liv in action was pure pleasure but talking to her and learning from her experience was even more interesting 🙂 See her report “Mountain Academy 2 : a wonderful week, a sweet team and some awesome climbing routes!”. Thanks for coming Liv and we hope to see you more in the future stages!
